IH Cantabria

The Environmental Hydraulics Institute "IH Cantabria" is a joint research center that carries out research, knowledge transfer and training of specialists in the fields of fresh and saltwater. This work has allowed IH Cantabria to be at the forefront of national and international organizations working in the water cycle in its various facets. At IH Cantabria there are over 140 researchers and the center has over thirty years of experience. IH Cantabria facilities have been financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Government of Cantabria and European Union FEDER funds.

Environmental Hydraulics Institute of Cantabria (IH Cantabria) will be subcontracted by the consortium as a Public Research Organization (OPI). This organization will assume the analysis and provision of tools designed to predict sea conditions to perform installation and maintenance operations with reliability, speed and security. Its support will help to study:

  • The influence of marine conditions (winds, tides, currents, waves and funds) over the site, the operation, the methods we will be employed in the installation of wind power generation parks from renewable marine energy, as well as their effects on the supply chain.
  • Analysis of the effects of marine conditions on infrastructure installed in the sea along its operating lifetime, and the consequences in the supply chain.
  • The analysis of the effects of installation and operation of marine energy parks on the marine and coastal ecosystems, and the consequences in the supply chain.
  • The search and classification of tools designed to achieve, through predictive processes, installation at minimum cost of durable marine energy infrastructure with reliability, speed and security, minimizing the impact on marine and coastal ecosystem and the environment.
  • The proposed of new tools development for achieving the above purposes.
